Missing vet's body is found

Posted Wed 3rd February 2010 at 09:00

The body of missing Alderney man Clifford Wannop has been found on the Isle of Skye.

Retired vet Mr Wannop, 83, failed to return from a walk in a forest in the Kinloch area on October 2 last year.

Extensive searches involving three mountain rescue teams, two helicopters, search dogs, lifeboat crews and coastguards were stood down two weeks after Mr Wannop was reported missing.

However, almost four months later, Mr Wannop's body was found on January 27 in the Kinloch area.

A spokesman for the Northern Constabulary said there were no suspicious circumstances regarding Mr Wannop's death and that a report had been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

See the next issue of The Journal, out on February 12, for a full report.
