Baggage woes for visiting professionals

Posted Mon 6th June 2016 at 13:59

Visiting trades people are losing business in Alderney because of on-going problems with left behind luggage, members of Alderney's Chamber of Commerce have heard.

Professionals have had to wait up to three days for tools of their trade to arrive in Alderney because Dornier G-Saye does not have the capacity for more than 12 passengers plus extra fuel and baggage.

"It's an absolute scandal," said States Member Steve Roberts. "We were promised in February that things would get better and they haven't. G-Saye, the second hand Dornier that Aurigny acquired, can only carry 12 passengers instead of 18. This is one of the many ways that the transition to Dorniers has been mishandled. It's time to show the management the red card."
