Grant boost for Performing Arts Festival

Posted Mon 7th December 2015 at 14:53

Alderney Performing Arts Festival has won a grant for a mentoring project from arts funding giant Jerwood.

Jerwood Foundation is a patron of the arts and education, and has supported the likes of Glyndborne, the National History Museum and the Royal Court theatre in London.

Its family of organisations includes Jerwood Charitable Foundation, which spends around £1.5m a year on nuturing new artists and arts projects around the UK. Representatives from it were so impressed by the Performing Arts Festival, that they agreed to sponsor a mentoring project led by one of the stars of last year's festival, pianist and songwriter Jason Rebello. Starting in the new year, he will lead a series of workshops with recent music graduates of exceptional talent that will culminate in an open workshop at next year's festival, followed by a performance on the Saturday night.
