Marina partner selected

Posted Tue 18th November 2014 at 15:26

The owner of Mainbrayce chandlers has welcomed a decision by the States to provisionally select his company as its marina development partner.

Gordon Fitton, the principal of Alderney Developments Ltd, spoke after the Policy and Finance Committee voted to instruct professionals to begin negotiations with them with a view to achieving a draft 'exclusivity agreement' between the two parties by March 2015. Such an agreement would give ADL a set period of time to establish whether their proposals are feasible and provide detailed plans for the development.

ADL want to develop an all tidal 4-500 berth marina in Maggie's Bay. In the coming months the company will assemble a project team and carry out an intensive survey and design work for the multi-million pound scheme, which would be likely to see the Commercial Quay extended to enclose around 4.8 hectares of sea. They also want to develop an as yet unknown amount of onshore land contained in the Harbour Development Zone.
