St Anne's head teacher has expressed his disappointment that the school was rated "less than proficient" in five out of eight categories in the latest inspector's report.
But Mike Gaunt said he was confident that performances could improve and said a "robust" action to remedy the situation was already in action.
Inspectors or "validators" spent two days at the school in November scoring its performance in areas like learners' achievement, teaching and assessment and pupils' personal development. Out of a scoring system that ranged from excellent to unsatisfactory, five areas got a score of 'not proficient' and three were deemed proficient. The last validation report - the Bailiwick equivalent of an Ofsted report - four years ago saw the school rated proficient in most areas.
The report said that by key stage four - the two year period that incorporates GCSEs - while pupils regularly did well in subjects like hospitality and catering and design, literacy skills standards were "below what they should be"
