Dr Lyons faces second inquiry from HSSD

Posted Mon 17th August 2015 at 15:13

Dr Rory Lyons is facing a second inquiry into his work at the Mignot hospital.

Dr Lyons' licence to practise was restored after a three month suspension by the General Medical Practice on 31st July. Guernsey Police had previously cleared him of any criminal wrong-doing in relation to his treatment of four deceased patients.

But the HSSD has now indicated that it is to commission a fresh investigation into Dr Lyons over his care relating to those patients. He is also still suspended by HSSD from working with his patients at the Mignot Memorial Hospital. A spokesperson for HSSD said yesterday: "An external review of the cases that were considered during the serious incident investigation is being undertaken." HSSD wrote to Dr Lyons to inform him of the inquiry.
