Alderney's Lifeboat volunteers with a cheque to say thank you for their tow to shore.
Dan Meinke, managing director of Bumblee Marine Ltd, together with skipper Richard Emery, handed over a cheque for £250 to the RNLI's Declan Gaudion and Mark Gaudion The Bumblebee ferry was two miles southwest of Alderney on its way to Guernsey on July 29th, carrying two passengers, when skipper Mr Emery found that the engines had shut down.
Mr Meinke said "We have the greatest respect for the RNLI and the Alderney crew in particular. They are a vital part of the maritime community and deserve our support and the support of all who go to sea. This incident shows that even a well-maintained boat with a professional crew can sometimes experience an unexpected problem."
The Guernsey Bereavement Service has made three visits to Alderney over the past few months and would like to continue to help you. We are visiting the island again on
