Workers will swing into action on a new toddlers section at the Butes Play Park over coming weeks after campaigners smashed their fund-raising target.
The Butes Play Park charity has managed to raise £25,000 over the past 18 months towards a £40,000 project. And at the General Services Committee meeting in May, States members agreed to match fund their efforts with a £20,000 donation.
The combined monies will pay for the installation and cost of stimulating play equipment for toddlers and a safe environment to put them in.
Campaign founder Rebecca Bohan has been liaising closely with the General Services Committee for many months, working on funding, designs and equipment for the play park. She said: "We are very pleased to have secured States funding. I have been liaising with the States over the park for two years so to have final agreement feels like a massive achievement. The contractor is in the process of being instructed now so we hope that work on the toddler section will start in a few weeks, once the equipment arrives. We are all very excited."
