Alderney is to get its own Tower of London ceramic poppy.
Neil Le Milliere, grandson of Alderney-born Charles Batiste Le Milliere, purchased the Remembrance memento and will donate it to either the Memorial Garden or the Museum.
Mr Le Milliere, from Tottenham, travelled to Alderney last Wednesday to hear St Anne's Bellringers sound a quarter peal to commemorate the 100th anniversary of his grandfather's death.
Charles Batiste was killed at the age of 19 when the gun store on the warship he was serving on as a stoker exploded at the mouth of the Thames. Mr Le Milliere said: "I want the poppy to remain in Alderney because this is where my grandfather was from. It was fabulous to hear, and see, the bellringers ring a peal in honour of my grandfather.
The Guernsey Bereavement Service has made three visits to Alderney over the past few months and would like to continue to help you. We are visiting the island again on
