Shock and sadness at sudden death of Paul Arditti

Posted Mon 27th January 2014 at 11:25

Residents have reacted with shock and sadness at the sudden death this week of States Member Paul Arditti.

Mr Arditti, 62, was at home with his wife on Monday when he suffered a suspected heart attack at around 8am.

Friends said he had been unwell the day before, missing bell ringing on Sunday morning - a rare occurrence for him - believing he may have contracted a stomach bug.

But on Monday morning he appeared well again, and had gone downstairs to make a cup of tea, when he was struck down. The ambulance was called but attempts to revive him were sadly in vain.

He was not believed to have suffered from any pre-existing heart conditions and friends said they had no warning that he was unwell.

Elected to the States of Alderney in November 2010, Paul began his four year term on 1st January 2011. He was proud of his role as Alderney Representative to the Guernsey States of Deliberation, and was last year honoured to accept the chair of Guernsey's Scrutiny Committee. Before he died was working at full pelt towards bringing a requete to the Guernsey States of Deliberation.
