Seven Alderney Cubs have raised £500 towards the build of a community pool.
The boys, all aged between eight and 10, elected to do a sponsored swim for the cause as part of their Community Badge.
They each swam as many widths as they could manage in half an hour at the shallow outdoor pool at St Anne's School.
Powering their way through stitches and exhaustion, the boys swam a total of 522 widths - with Owen Carre, 10, completing a mighty 104.
The cubs taking part were: Harry Bingham, Owen Carre, Cormac English, Ethan Gillingham, Karl Huddart, Connor Osborne and Nicholas Spandler. Owen said afterwards: "It was exhausting and fun. The hardest bit was the ending because I got tired. But I feel very happy about what I did."
Cub leader Angela Bingham said: "They made the most fantastic effort, encouraging each other to keep going even though they were clearly getting tired towards the end. It was just superb." She added: "I believe this exercise has shown just the beginning of what the children in Alderney are capable of achieving given the right facilities and opportunities."
The Guernsey Bereavement Service has made three visits to Alderney over the past few months and would like to continue to help you. We are visiting the island again on
