Prices and dates of trial flights to Jersey have been unveiled.
The States have signed a deal with Aurigny to charter a Trislander for six weeks from Friday 20th September with a fixed fare of £99 per return trip.
Outbound flights from Alderney and from Jersey will take place on Friday afternoons between 3pm to 4pm, and return flights on Sunday afternoons.
The States have paid Aurigny £10,000 for the service and will need to sell most of the seats in order to break even.
But Business Development Tourism and Marketing Committee Chairman Neil Harvey said he was "confident of a reasonable uptake in Jersey" thanks to a TV advertising campaign, which has already been filmed, and deals struck with Alderney hotels.
He said they had tried to keep return flight prices as low as possible to get people on board. If the flights were full, he said, the States would draw a "very small" profit from the trial, but the main benefit would be to local businesses and Alderney people granted direct access to Jersey.
"We believe there is significant demand both ways on this route and hope to demonstrate this to Aurigny during the trial period," he said. "I am really pleased that we can do this and we are grateful to Aurigny for their agreement to put on the planes.'
