Members of Alderney Wildlife Trust (AWT) are calling on green fingered islanders to give them a helping hand this weekend.
AWT volunteers and members of the Alderney Society are joining forces to help maintain the Bonne Terre walking paths, which are situated near Fort Tourgis. And, the two groups are hoping members of the public will pitch up to join them for a walk while helping to clear the site.
AWT manager Roland Gauvain said: "The Bonne Terre valley is one of Alderney's best kept walking secrets. Its watermill, dams and wildflower meadows make for a truly relaxing and tranquil sight.
"Historically the valley was an area for horticulture with numerous small fields littering the streamside and a major cart track running through its centre. However, over time this scenic route has become increasingly difficult to negotiate because major growth has slowly narrowed the path to the point of closure."
The walks will be conducted over two three-hour sessions this Saturday (June 28). The first session will take place from 9.30am; the second at 2pm. Walkers should meet at Fort Tourgis at both start times. A picnic lunch will be held at Bonne Terre Watermill from 12.30pm.
The Guernsey Bereavement Service has made three visits to Alderney over the past few months and would like to continue to help you. We are visiting the island again on
Tuesday, 23rd February 2024 and would invite anyone who feels they would like Bereavement Counselling to telephone the Bereavement Service Office on 257778 to make a time to meet one of our counsellors.
