Prince Charles to receive fishy gift from Alderney

PRINCE Charles is to get a rather fishy gift from the people of Alderney - six live lobsters.
Nearly 500 islanders have been invited to help host the visit of Prince Charles and Camilla to Alderney, among them fish shop owner David McAllister and fisherman Pierre Dupont.
They will crown the Royals' 1hr 15 minute visit with a gift of six live lobsters on behalf of the island's fishermen.
The couple is due to land by helicopter on the Butes at 12pm on July 20th. A welcoming party of more than 100 invited guests will gather to greet them, including Brownies, Girl Guides, Scouts and Cubs along with members of the fire brigade, the RNLI, the Royal British Legion and other uniformed groups.
They will be formally welcomed to the island by the Lord Lieutenant-Governor - their official host for their Bailiwick visit - who will in turn present them to States President Stuart Trought and his partner. The couple will then travel slowly up Victoria Street to Connaught Square. Victoria Street, High St and Le Huret will close at 9am
Around 350 islanders including the Island Band have been sent invitations to a garden party at the Island Gardens - with instructions how to address their Royal Highnesses (ma'am to rhyme with "jam") - where Policy & Finance chairman John Beaman will show round Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, while Mr Trought will introduce guests to Prince Charles.
The Guernsey Bereavement Service has made three visits to Alderney over the past few months and would like to continue to help you. We are visiting the island again on
Tuesday, 23rd February 2024 and would invite anyone who feels they would like Bereavement Counselling to telephone the Bereavement Service Office on 257778 to make a time to meet one of our counsellors.
