Carey Group officially confirmed this week that 14 jobs in Alderney are to go when its pensions administration department moves to Guernsey.
Carey Group has had an office in Ollivier Street office for 16 years. It will close at the end of April.
Employees said the news, which they were told about on Wednesday 20th January, was "unexpected".
In a public statement this Wednesday Managing Director Jane Duchemin said Carey Group had decided to centralise its pensions and benefits administration in Guernsey, where another of its pensions administration section is based. "After much consideration, Carey Group has taken the extremely difficult decision to bring Carey Pensions and Benefits Limited's client service and operations teams together under one roof in Guernsey, and from the end of April 2016, to close its Alderney office," she said in a statement released on Wednesday. "The decision to close our Alderney office has been particularly hard for CPBL, given the many years of dedicated service from our Alderney team. We will be supporting and assisting the Alderney team to ensure their continuing welfare during this time of change. The jobs being lost are full time and part time positions. Asked if employees would be offered jobs in Guernsey Ms Duchemin would only say: "That data is confidential between the individual and the company."
The Guernsey Bereavement Service has made three visits to Alderney over the past few months and would like to continue to help you. We are visiting the island again on
Tuesday, 23rd February 2024 and would invite anyone who feels they would like Bereavement Counselling to telephone the Bereavement Service Office on 257778 to make a time to meet one of our counsellors.
