More than 500 signatures have been collected on a petition to stop a bid by Sandpiper CI to bring Iceland to Alderney.
The paper version of the Save Our Street petition, organised by Victoria Street retailers, has been signed by at least three States Members, while the online version has netted support from people as far away as New Zealand, the UAE and Brazil. Matt Birmingham, Chris Rowley and Graham McKinley have signed the petition as have George Baron OBE and Sir Norman Browse. Meanwhile a survey on the issue by the Chamber of Commerce found that of the 53 people who answered it, only three were in favour of a change to the licensing laws and the opening of an Iceland store. Chamber of Commerce president Andrew Eggleston said the stampede of signatures was an indication of the strength of feeling around the issue.
The Guernsey Bereavement Service has made three visits to Alderney over the past few months and would like to continue to help you. We are visiting the island again on
Tuesday, 23rd February 2024 and would invite anyone who feels they would like Bereavement Counselling to telephone the Bereavement Service Office on 257778 to make a time to meet one of our counsellors.
