TV actor John Nettles will bring a touch of Midsomer to the Island this Alderney Week - hopefully without the body count.
Nettles, of Bergerac and Midsomer Murders fame - is one of a host of VIPs who will make an appearance on Alderney Week's Cavalcade Day.
The Island's 65th Alderney Week kicks off on Saturday August 3rd and the Alderney Week team has introduced a string of exciting new events and special guests to make this year's programme sparkle.
As ever the showcase event is Cavalcade Day, and this year it will boast special guests such as Miss Jersey Battle of Flowers Taye Park, Miss Beaumont-Hague Annais Ammilard and Mini Miss Beaumont-Hague plus all their Maids of Honour.
Crows can be a nuisance on Alderney so this year sees the festival's inaugural Scarecrow competition. The Alderney Week Team are hoping that a parade of original, possibly even attractive, scarecrows will make their appearance on Cavalcade Day, with prizes for the best creations. The scarecrows will be on display on the Butes and can continue their duties in the fields thereafter, unless their creators want to add them to the bonfire on the last night.
The Guernsey Bereavement Service has made three visits to Alderney over the past few months and would like to continue to help you. We are visiting the island again on
Tuesday, 23rd February 2024 and would invite anyone who feels they would like Bereavement Counselling to telephone the Bereavement Service Office on 257778 to make a time to meet one of our counsellors.
