Posted Wed 23rd June 2010 at 15:18

A 90-year-old pedestrian suffered facial injuries after being knocked over by a taxi in Alderney.

The lady's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, but she is expected to be kept in overnight at Alderney's Mignot Memorial Hospital.

The suspected accident, which left a trail of blood in Victoria Street, occurred shortly before 11am today. The lady was hit by the vehicle, a Vauxhall Zafira, outside Anchors clothes shop.

Alderney's acting police sergeant, Colin Solway, said inquiries into the incident are ongoing but appealed for any witnesses to get in touch.

Those with information should call Alderney Police on 824999.
