Alderney's Andre Wilsenach (pictured) was honoured at this year's World Online Gambling Law Report Awards.
South African Mr Wilsenach, Alderney Gambling Control Commission's chief executive, was named regulator of the year at the annual ceremony, which took place in Hampshire.
Lindsey Grieg, who presented the award, said: "Andre has played ? and continues to play ? a signifi cant role in the development of regulation in the complex global online industry.
"He has had to develop a regulatory framework in an area where there are no established precedents and where internet business models are constantly developing."
Alderney's head of e-commerce development, Robin Le Prevost, said: "This refl ects particularly well on the invaluable work Andre has done but also on his team of staff and the commissioners.
"Alderney Gambling Control Commission has a reputation of the highest order, which refl ects extremely well on the Channel Islands and underlines what a terrifi c place the islands are to establish business."
