Nobody has come forward to contest Alderney's upcoming by-election.
States members recently agreed an election would be held on 28 June following the resignation of Richard Cox.
However, the election has now been cancelled after no one in the island decided to stand. Hustings scheduled for Monday (23 June) have also been scrapped.
Chief executive David Jeremiah said: "This is the second time in a year no one has come forward to contest a by-election.
"It's disappointing but people must bear in mind there are only around 1,300 people eligible to stand and that is not a large amount."
The States is expected to debate the issue at its monthly meeting on Wednesday June 18th.
The Guernsey Bereavement Service has made three visits to Alderney over the past few months and would like to continue to help you. We are visiting the island again on
Tuesday, 23rd February 2024 and would invite anyone who feels they would like Bereavement Counselling to telephone the Bereavement Service Office on 257778 to make a time to meet one of our counsellors.
